Contestant Information

2010 Harmonica Contest Rules:

  • Harmonica only (any brand or type of harmonica is permitted).
  • Any musical style, but blues players must also play a song with a recognizable beat.
  • No “trick” microphones or electronic accompaniment.  (Sound system is provided.)
  • All contestants play no more than 5 minutes.
  • Youth Division is open to those 17 years of age or younger.
  • Diatonic and Chromatic Divisions are open to those 18 years of age and over, making less than 1/2 their income from playing harmonica.
  • Group Division is open to players of any age, also making less than 1/2 their income from playing harmonica.


All divisions will be judged by professional harmonica players.  2010
judges are Phil Caltabellotta and George Miklas (on Facebook).

Register before July 25th and get preferred seating at Judges’ Concerts.

Prizes and Registration Fees:

One entry fee covers all divisions you wish to enter:

     Entry Fee$20 before July 25th; $25 thereafter

  • Youth Division (17 yrs and under) Prize:  1st – $50

  • Diatonic Division (18 yrs and over): Prize:  1st – $100; 2nd – $75; 3rd – $50

  • Chromatic Division (18 yrs and over):  Prize:  1st – $100; 2nd – $75; 3rd – $50

  • Group Division (any age): Prize:  1st – $100

2010 Crowd Pleaser Contest:

Prize money is $100, and there’s no entry fee. Entrants sign up on a first-come basis until all time slots are full.  Performance times will be assigned and posted one hour before the first performance.  Each performer or group will be allowed 10 minutes (this includes setup time).  Amps and microphones will be provided.

There will be a winner determined by audience vote.  Winner(s) will receive $100 that will be awarded at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.  Winners will perform at the awards ceremony.
